Job Description

Istanbul Chargrill & Kebab Palace Pty Ltd is looking for a skilled and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team in a full-time position at our North Lakes, QLD restaurant. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing quality dishes, supporting menu development, supervising kitchen staff and maintaining high standards of food safety, presentation and service.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan menus and calculate food quantities, portion sizes and preparation costs
Prepare and cook a range of dishes in accordance with recipes and established restaurant standards
Check the quality, flavour, presentation and consistency of meals before service
Plan and coordinate daily food preparation and cooking activities
Supervise, guide and train Cooks and Kitchenhands in food preparation, cooking procedures and safe food-handling practices
Monitor stock levels and order food ingredients, kitchen supplies and other required items
Ensure sufficient stock is available to meet daily preparation and service requirements
Work with management to create new dishes, review menus and improve existing recipes
Communicate effectively with front-of-house employees to support timely and efficient food service
Ensure kitchen operations comply with food safety, workplace health and hygiene requirements
Monitor and adjust the temperatures of ovens, grills, chargrills and other cooking equipment
Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen throughout each shift

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or another relevant qualification
At least one year of relevant experience working in a commercial kitchen
Experience in menu planning, portion control, food costing and kitchen operations
Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and support kitchen employees
Strong organisation, time-management and communication skills
Ability to perform efficiently and maintain quality standards in a fast-paced restaurant environment
